My life has forever been touched by breast cancer. My mother was a survivor and I had a few scares myself. Thanks to Twitter, I’ve been fortunate to find a whole new group of friends, including several strong, successful, amazing women, no surprise, some who are 3-Day Walkers. @laurak is from Phoenix and has been a 3-Day Walker for a few years. @geosteph is the newbie in our little adventure and we are walking in DC for our friend @susanreynolds and several of our other Twitter friends who have been diagnosed and are either survivors or are in treatment.
I’m often asked why I walk. I have one answer – Because I have to. For the same reasons that Laura and Steph and the thousands of other 3-Day Walkers push themselves beyond our personal limits. We walk for people we do and don’t know. All whose lives have touched by breast cancer. We walk so that our children will one day know a life without breast cancer in their vocabulary. We also walk for selfish reason so that if/when our time comes to face this disease, there will be a cure.
So with sneakers as our swords, songs on our lips, joy in our hearts and resolve in our souls, we are asking you to support our team and buy a T-shirt!
